ある日、近所の緑道でサクラ並木の剪定作業に遭遇。

切った枝が、ぞくぞくとごみ収集車の中に巻き込まれていくのを見るにつれ、身勝手なことに、悲しいような気持ちになりました。
A bunch of twigs was being squeezed into a garbage truck.
剪定作業は植物の生育のためにやってるんですよね、たぶん。それでも、
たくさんのつぼみが、ごみ収集車に巻き込まれる姿を目の当たりにすると、

なぜかつらい気持ちになるものです。
ということで、枝きれを少し頂戴してきました。
植物好きの人に声をかけ、貰ってくれる人を大募集しましたが、思いのほか反応がいまいち…。
植物を育てる趣味ナッシングの私が、自分の背丈ほどあるサクラを育てることになりました。

我が家の桜子1日目 (Feb 23)：ただの茶色い枝っきれ。
First day of my cherry: nothing else than simple brown twigs.
桜子8日目 (Mar 2)：遠くから見たら茶色い枝きれのままだけど、

近寄ると緑がかってきた！

桜子11日目 (Mar 5)：つぼみが膨らんで、白い花の色が見えてきた！

桜子13日目 (Mar 7) 朝：ひらいた！

と思ったら、1時間後に開花！！
oh, ...fully bloomed just an hour later.

ここからは、あれよあれよという間に次々と開花宣言！
桜子16日目 (Mar 10)：茶色の枝きれだった桜子が、2週間強で白い美人さんに変身。

親元の緑道のサクラに比べると、おそらく2週間程度早い咲き具合。
「育てた」といっても…、水をためたバケツに枝を入れておいただけ……（汗）
それでもこんなにすくすく育つんですね。
剪定作業をしていた方が、つぼみの多いところを選んで渡してくれたからからな。お忙しいところ親切にご対応いただき、どうもありがとうございました。
今年は自宅で、少し早いお花見堪能したぞ！！

緑道の親元のサクラは現在（Mar 12）こんな感じ。剪定された切り跡がちらほらありますね。
Outside the house, the cherry blossoms are not in bloom yet.
アップで見ると、つぼみは3月2日時点の桜子ぐらいかな。
They are still buds.
2～3週間後は、緑道のサクラも満開になり、多くの人が集まってどんちゃん騒ぎだ。
It may take another 2 weeks or more for full blossom and the annual "ohanami" parties.
Outside the house, the cherry blossoms are not in bloom yet.

ところで本日、ソメイヨシノはまだですが、オカメザクラは満開に咲いてました。
Although "someiyoshino" are not bloomed yet as of Mar 12, there are some other kinds of cherry trees already in full bloom. This is "okame‐zakura" on the same walking trail. It is beautiful as well!
